X8782 - Snow Guard

I was asking for something like this for years never knew it even existed. Then I stumbled across the HvacpartsShop website. I Just sat it on top of my xp17 and that was all. No more horrible noise from icy fan blades and icy shroud. It even muffles the slight humming noise coming from the fan. If you have trouble with your heat pump icing up in the winter this is the solution!

I live near Philadelphia, PA and we have some nasty winter weather with snow and ice storms. I have an XP 21 Lennox Heat Pump system. I purchased the Lennox X8782 - SQL1106 Snow Guard from HVACPartsShop.com last December and it works perfectly. When I received it, I took it out of it's shipping box and lifted it on top of the outside compressor unit. It fit perfectly and does not need to be secured in any manner. It weighs 43 pounds and is heavy enough not to move once it is installed. I used to have to shut down the heat pump system and run the emergency heat mode until the storm stopped. This is a very expensive way to heat your home especially in our area as PECO Energy has one of the highest electric rates in the Country with no discounts for Electric Heat Customers. It may seem expensive at a little over $500.00 including shipping, but it is a great investment. I will let it on all year long as it will also keep leaves and other debris from getting into the compressor unit. All heat pump manufacturers of heat pumps have a completely opened top that allows for snow, ice and other debris to enter. Lennox is the only one to my knowledge that makes a snow guard specifically made for their heat pumps. I strongly recommend purchasing this snow guard. As far as HVACPartsShop, they were absolutely great to deal with and will go out of their way to assist you.
